The second piece in a series of works inspired by the protective layered architecture of black saddle oyster shells*.

Micro-laminated fumed oak, pressure shaped and hand sculpted until the final form emerged. Two, off-set gently floating planes that reveal the history of their making across every layer.

Material: Fumed Oak, finished with Hard Wax/Oil

*Secreted by molluscs, conchiolin forms the organic matrix of a shell – providing a protective, outer layer shielding it from corrosion and serving as an initial framework for growth.
